Architecture, Parametric Design

The roof form and pattern finding is a FEA-driven process with a generative design approach.  The  form is the reversed deformation of a flat surface connected to conical supports under gravity load. A single layer space frame is extracted from the form and by use of Uncertainty principle and Probability, density of structural elements is determined based on utilization of elements. 20% increase in utilization average of the elements was achieved. Grasshopper, a generative design plug-in for rhinoceros modeling software , Karamba, a finite elements analysis and Heteroptera, a tool for Uncertainty and Probability application in design fully embedded in parametric environment of Grasshopper have been used in the design process.
